Alice Muhirwa Hirwa is the kind of lady you meet, and she reminds you to be cautious of your posture, your filler words, your overall presentation basically. She does it with the kind of etiquette that will help you elevate, and it’s no wonder that she runs a business with the same name.
She’s been on my mailing list for some time. The weekly emails were especially instrumental to her in 2021 when she took the leap from formal employment to begin her new chapter – training business executives on best ways to refine their presentation skills and refining their image.
getting into business for herself
The decision to walk this career path came almost like an ‘aha’ moment.
Alice had previously been observant in how friends spoke or their posture at various formal gatherings. What began as conversations with her close circle on how they could present themselves better birthed a business idea.
Her next step was to invest in a few short, online courses which helped her get her business on the ground.
But she quickly fell into the trap a lot of early stage business owners fall into: the doing it all and in any way that ‘feels right’. The on-the-fly strategy worked in some cases; but not for most – and she found herself in that frustrated zone where the only way out was to seek professional business support.
After reading back on some of my past emails, she was curious about Simplicity.
She liked that my approach to sharing digital content blended relevant business resources with hints of my life, which also helped her resonate as an early-stage business owner. Three emails later, she was sold. She decided to join the March 2022 Simplicity cohort.
her Simplicity experience
From the get-go, Alice was a proactive participant. She shared her questions and triumphs openly, and even shared about the areas she was uncertain about. This open nature allowed us to all form a sisterhood during the program – and for Alice, the collective sharing also enabled her to find comfort in the things she didn’t know and was willing to learn.
When I spoke with her earlier this week, she went on about the two modules that have stayed etched in her mind one year later.
The first was my module that focuses on knowing your client.
Before Simplicity, Alice was having a hard time identifying who she was targeting with her business. To her, it seemed her services were a ‘one size fits all’, but by the end of the module, she was able to dig deeper and nit-pick the specificities of who would benefit from what she was offering.
This helped her not only get more strategic at who she would market to – both online and offline – but clearly articulate to them how her business would benefit them.
Though even before she could get to the client facing communication, another module stopped her in her tracks and supported her in refining her offer.
Yes, she knew who she was in business to serve, but knowing the why behind her services enabled her to answer potential questions she would get from prospective clients, as well as price her services in a way that spoke to her expertise – and not relying on what the market rates were.
it’s the business program for YOU!
To date, the lessons from Simplicity have not only helped her to make a living doing what she does, but she’s been able to get a return on her investment in the program … and then some! I honestly couldn’t be happier for her.
It’s case stories like these that give me the motivation I need to keep supporting business owners. And that’s what I plan to do starting 15 March 2023 when a new cohort of Simplicity begins.
If you’re like the old version of Alice – running around doing business with rough drafts for strategies, and taking on clients for the sake and pricing based on what Google tells you is the ‘right price’, you definitely need to join Simplicity.
I can assure you that in just 90 days, you’ll see a difference – whether it’s in the way you communicate about your business, or even the spaces and platforms you find yourself in fishing for your next big customer.
That’s why you need to enrol for Simplicity today… and also because this is the ONLY time I’ll be running this business-changing program this year.
