I see you, and I’m here to tell you to stop hiding.
It’s time for us to get real on a topic that can literally make or break your business…
Does that word make you shrink a little? Does it make you want to click away?
Often for entrepreneurs like you, just thinking about your numbers and examining your attitude to money can get REALLY uncomfortable.
But it doesn’t have to be.
Here’s how you can stop hiding from your numbers and start to take back control.
1. start tracking your money
Most people I know have absolutely no idea how much money they’re spending. Not in their personal lives and not in their businesses.
And if you don’t have a clue about how much you spend, how can you ever estimate how much you you need to earn?
So starting today, start to keep track of the money that is coming in and the money that’s going out. Do it for just 5 days to start with if you must. But please, do it.
This is the first step in taking control of your finances and eventually you’ll stop hiding.
2. create a budget
Once you get a feel for how much you’re spending, you can start to understand how much you really NEED.
How much you need to maintain your lifestyle translates precisely into what you need to EARN from your business.
How much you need to earn translates into how much you need to sell and at what price!
Once you’re clear about these numbers, you can start to take the emotion out of the word ‘money’ and make more solid decisions for your business.
3. stop wasting money!
When I was starting my own business, I noticed that I often wasn’t too meticulous on what I was spending money on.
And in my time working with entrepreneurs, I’ve learned that others are making the same mistakes that I made.
Having a logo, business cards and a website will be increasingly important as your business grows. But in the beginning, your most important task is to really validate your business idea before you spend ANYTHING on designing / building / creating your product or service.
Once you do that, you can feel more confident in outlaying cash for some of those other things. But until then, scrutinize your outgoings!
it’s time to stop hiding!
Over the years, I’ve lost count of the number of entrepreneurs I’ve met who tell themselves that they’re no good with numbers. And so, they hide from them and make business decisions with incomplete information.
